[Solved] How to prevent users from viewing draft pages in Microsoft SharePoint Online

If users other than the one editing the SPO page can view a page that is still in draft mode, it likely indicates a permissions issue on the Site Pages library or the specific page, where access restrictions for unpublished content are not properly configured.

Please follow the steps below to verify and adjust the permission settings for draft items in SharePoint Online:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  2. Select Site contents from the dropdown menu.

  3. Locate Site Pages, click the three dots (···) next to it, and choose Settings.

  4. Click on Versioning settings.

  5. Under the Draft Item Security section, ensure the option “Only users who can edit items” is selected.

⚠️ If the setting is configured as “Any user who can read items,” then all users with read-only access to the site will be able to view draft pages.
